Affiliate journey set in motion

Even though its still July and the affiliate journey should really start tomorrow, we have made some big progress and things are set in place for the ride ahead of us.

Firstly, as you may have noticed we have changed the theme of the blog. Whilst reading the well recommended Copyblogger, I noticed that their theme was available for download. So the reading got put aside and out came the FTP.

A few MySQL errors and permission changes later, we have a lovely new theme for the blog. A vast improvement if I do say so myself.

Anyways, back to our affiliate journey. If you go take a peek at our ArticleGOLD site now, you’ll see that we have put up the affiliates script already. Took a bit less time than I thought and I have been busy choosing affiliate programs from CJ, Shareasale and Linkshare for categories and articles.

This will continue for a few weeks as we add and fine tune each article so hopefully the results should be on an uptrend. That said, ArticleGOLD is still an information site rather than a shopping site so I am not expecting great returns.

I’ll post the results of the script over the next few days so you guys have see how we have been doing. At the moment, I have only had time to put a few programs up but have noticed that some of the larger animated banners distract readers a bit such as this one.

I’ll try to add some Clickbank ads tomorrow too as they may be more suited to the readers.

I’ll end with something I noticed earlier. Linkshare offers an affiliate program for their services which is nice.

Commission: $1.50 for every valid referral that registers as an affiliate with LinkShare and generates at least one click-through within 30 days of registering.

Not a great plan but maybe worth it for this blog so I’ll be adding their banner up on here too… for the meantime…
