Affiliate update

Been a while since my last post so I will do a quick review of the progress we are making or lack of.

Its near the end of the month now and it seems we are not going to meet the milestone target. Its a shame but not much to worry about as the first milestone was not important. This month was really about getting things set-up and learning.

On the learning front, I think we have made great progress and I can now mingle with the best of them without being called a newb too often. On the set-up front, things are also good as we have set up the Article Dashboard script and have stuff in the works.

Earnings is not so good though as we are about on USD60ish at the moment with 2 different merchants. That said, we have exceeded the USD100 target if it was not for commission junctions corrections!!!! .. Invalid credit cards and whatever deposit is supposed to mean.

The other culprit is the Article Dashboard script teaching us a valuable lesson that information seekers do NOT convert well. We are getting quite good click through rates but I suppose if you want some information you would go to a library and if you want to do shopping, you’d go to a mall. Common sense really.

So, we need a site built for shoppers ……. we’ve spent a few days researching and have come up with a niche that isn’t too competitive and should bring in some good keyword traffic. The domain has been purchased and we’ve just started to develop the affiliate site. Not going to reveal too much at this stage but hopefully we’ll have the site ready soon, say in 2-3 weeks.

The only existing site that we have that has shopper traffic is our T-Shirt site. We’ve put other projects on hold and our developers are hard at work preparing the site revamp. I am pretty confident that the site will bring in consistent affiliate income as it already has T-Shirt hungry traffic arriving everyday from search engines. Currently 1000 a day but after some SEO work on the revamp and link building, I am aiming at 4000 a day uniques organic. This one I think will also be about 2-3 weeks unfortunately.

There are a few other smaller things we are looking into, more for learning and research and if anything interesting becomes of them, I’ll let you guys know.
